Tips For a Flat Belly!

I know lots of ways to get a flat belly, the trick is keeping one!  I’m in my 40s and the epitome of looking good in the 80s was a washboard stomach or those 6 pack abs on men.  I’m not sure what’s going on anymore with women not caring about that whole area!  I still worry about it, and I’m overweight.  Now that they’ve come out with some research about the size of your waist related to future health issues, it worries me even more.

I’ve had a busy past month and haven’t been as focused on as many things as I would have liked.  Somehow, surprisingly, I’m still losing weight.  Back in January, I had started a “Biggest Loser’ competition with some friends at work.  We ended that in July and while I wasn’t the winner, I had done well, losing what I had gained over the holidays and some more.  I’m now 5 pounds less than that as well, which makes me quite happy.  I DO realize that not always thinking about food does have its advantages. Food I Love!

For whatever reason, Sunday mornings have always felt like they are supposed to be special.  Maybe because when I was little and we’d go to church, afterwards, we had a huge breakfast.  I don’t know.  I just know that for many, many years I’ve felt it needed to be celebrated, and I’m sure I didn’t do that particularly well.

Today, I’m attaching a recipe for blueberry (or any other kind of berry you love) protein pancakes.  Satisfying, delicious, travels well – they are the things that miracles are made out of.  They are relatively low calorie (110 per pancake), but make Sundays – and any other day – feel special at breakfast-time!

As an FYI, I always double the recipe and they keep well in the refrigerator or freezer for quite some time.

  • Easy Crustless Quiche

    This is a fantastic recipe that is easily adapted to whatever you really love in your quiche.

    7 egg whites;
    1.5 C skim milk
    (for quiche shown)
    Add 1 C chopped vidalia onion (sauteed in oil first)
    1 chopped red pepper (sauteed with onion)
    1 10 oz. box of spinach (also sauteed)

    Heat oven to 450 and bake for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 375 for an additional 30 minutes. During the last 15 mins. add approximately 2 C of sharp cheddar cheese.

    This will yield approximately 6 large pieces, amounting to around 110 calories per piece.
